Podcasts Update 2020

How I Listen

My previous post was two years ago. A lot has changed since then. Many podcasts are no longer around or I have grown tired of the hosts. I have found new ones as well. Overall, I see a shift from tech-only podcasts to more general lifestyle and news.

Also in that time, my previous app of choice, Pocket Casts, did a rewrite of the Android app. I found it more difficult to use and I question why NPR would need such an app, other than for advertising purposes. If privacy is a concern, it makes sense that I really can't use any podcast service that may interject ads at a later time. So I actually moved to Plex. The podcast piece is new and it is buggy. However I can see it getting better in each release.
