So I replaced my Wifi network at home and forgot to set the new network config on my Pi-powered proton pack before switching it, leading to having to serial in to set it. That experience led me to looking at either the NexDock or PiTop. Seeing as the NexDock isn't shipping yet, I went on ebay and picked up the pitop.
It still is pretty expensive for what it is, but ebay helps. The assembly was easy and the battery life is great. It is a perfect hackertop with the expandability, ability to swap pis or SD cards, and even plug in my Intel compute Stick. Well perfect in every way except for the keyboard. The chicklets are ok but not every press is recognized. I'm writing this on it, so please forgive typeos. Also it is offcenter, making it hard to use on your laptop.
Given that, though, it is still fun to have an throw around. Powerd by a Pi3, it is strong enough for most stuff I throw in it and for my tasks with programming. But if its gonna be a long session, plug in another keyboard.
